Do you feel that somehow, even with the best of intentions you have gotten lost somehow? Do you feel confused or unhappy with where you are in life? Are you questioning who you are, decisions you’ve made, or wondering where you go from here? Are the things that used to make you happy, or helped you to cope, no longer working or working as well? Jungian analyst, James Hollis, uses a dark wood as a metaphor for describing the experience some individuals have during a midlife crisis. You find yourself lost in a dark wood. You’re not quite sure how you got there, but there you are. You don’t know how you will survive, how long you will be there, or the way out. The purpose of therapy is to support you as you find your way through the dark wood.
